HumGene:A Human Gene Finding Program Based On Generalized Hidden Markov Model

HumGene is a human gene finding program based on generalized hidden Markov model (GHMM). Usually, GHMM algorithm can't be used in human gene finding software directly because of its huge computation. A new method is proved to reducing the computational complexity of the algorithm according to the characteristic of human gene's structure, as well as to make the expansibility of the whole system to be possible. The child model employs entire probabilistic model so as to get evaluation in the same measure, and it ensures the expansibility of model. The test with a standard test sets is executed, and the comparisons between this program's result and other similar programs' are given. It shows that the accuracy of the program is almost as high as the popular software for human gene finding.
