Planning support system (PSS) and its application to decision-making for urban spatial development

Planning support system (PSS) is an integrated information application framework, which combines a series of computer-based analytical methods and models, and aims to facilitate planners to fulfill the specific planning task. This article explains the connotation of PSS in detail, and describes the concept model of the software of WHAT and its application to urban planning support using a practical case. The effects and significance of WHAT IF? software's application is discussed as well. It hopes to give more knowledge for the future theoretical and practical development of urban planning in China.
