Study on existing spatio-temporal data models

The key definitions of spatio-temporal data modeling are summarized and the requirements of spatio-temporal database community,including temporal semantics,spatial semantics,spatio-tem- poral semantics and query capabilities are specified.Through the investigation on the applications of the existing spatio-temporat data models in spatio-temporal domain,a comparison among these models for evaluating their capabilities in the four fields above mentioned is provided and the various approach- es are assessed.As a result,spatio-temporal object-oriented data model and moving object data model behave more strongly in the expressions of the spatio-temporal objects.
