A high-precision curvature-compensated bandgap voltage reference

Guangjun Xie · Journal of Hefei University of Technology · 2007

Generally,a first-order curvature-compensated bandgap voltage reference neglects the high-order non-linear term of VBE and its temperature coefficient is about 20×10-6~30×10-6/ ℃,so it cannot meet the requirement in high-precision system design. The high-order curvature compensation should be applied to get a voltage reference with a better temperature coefficient. When a MOSFET is working at the sub-threshold region, its IDS-VGScharacteristic is exponential.By taking advantage of that the high-order term of the VBE can be compensated. The simulation results are as follows: the output voltage is about 1.241V,the temperature coefficient of this reference is about 6 ×10-6/℃ from-40 ℃ to 100 ℃,and the power dissipation is 0.1 mW.
