Software encryption and protection is the important part in the course of software developing. This article brings forward a Web-based software protection scheme for the mediumsized and abbreviated engineering software. It starts with controlling the down-loading right of the software, then when the client is downloading the software, the scheme encrypts the MAC address of the network card to form the exclusive registered code of the computer by using the famous DES algorithms. At last this scheme adds a registering module to the protected software and through reading and writing the computer's registry the scheme can implement the software' s protecting aim of binding the software to the computer which has downloaded the software. The encrypting and registering rate is very fast in this scheme, and the registering process is very convenient to the user and it does not increase the cost of the software exploitation at all. It is a simple and applied software protecting scheme.
