Study on Gas Discharge Characteristics for Gap Type Surge Protective Device under Low Atmospheric Pressure
Jingliang Chen · Low Voltage Apparatus · 2011
According to the requests of class I test of lightning protection for surge protective device(SPD) in low voltage power distribution system, the glow-to-arc transition and response time were studied. The experiments were carried out in low atmospheric pressure, and in the action of DC voltage. The electrode materials are W-Cu,electrode diameter 10 mm and the distance between two electrodes is 2~5 mm.The results indicate that the time of glow-to-arc transition is increasing with atmospheric pressure increasing;if t100 ns,the atmospheric pressure range is decreasing with gap distance increasing. When the distance is 2 mm,3 mm and 5 mm,the atmospheric pressure range is less than 100 Pa,60 Pa and 40 Pa,respectively.
