Serial Advanced Technology Attachment(SATA) is a new generation of hard disk interface technology widely used to develop solid-state hard disk in recent years.Data scrambling/descrambling plays an important role in designing SATA communication interface.Principle of data scrambling was analyzed, and data scrambling algorithm based on m-sequence was studied.A linear feed shift register(LFSR) with specific primitive polynomial determined by SATA specification was used to design data scrambler/descrambler.Results from simulation and synthesis showed that the proposed circuit met the specification of SATA communication interface for solid-state hard disk. With low hardware overhead and good practicability, the circuit could effectively implement data scrambling and descrambling.
