A Prototypical Study of the Causative Construction

Based on a brief introduction of the prototypical effect of causative words, this paper analyses the causative construction in terms of its deep structure, transitivity, causative event structure, and caused-motion construction, and together with Langacker's (1991) cognitive construal model, finally establishes an image schematic representation of the prototypical causative construction.
