Influence of Solvents on the PVDF Membrane Properties

The action of solvent on the polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) membrane prepared by the phase separation method is discussed. The phase separation data were measured by cloud point method for the solution of w__(PVDF)=0.12 with the solvent of DMSO,DMF,DMA,NMP and TMP respectively. The advanced velocity of the phase separation front line when the casting solution was contacted with water was measured by microscope photo method. The pore size of membrane was measured by bulb point method. The results shown that DMSO, TMP and DMA are good solvents to cast PVDF membrane by phase separation method.
