Research on Rapid Reconstruction of Legacy GIS for Water Distribution Network

Xianbin Liu · China Water & Wastewater · 2012

There are plenty of geographic data and rules in the legacy GIS for water distribution network. In order to make full use of these resources, integrate functions and data effectively and shorten the development cycle, rapidly reconstructing the system is the best way.A rapid reconstruction framework was introduced, and the transplantation and reconstruction process of legacy data by three key components were described. The framework, which uses a typical hierarchical architecture combined with object-oriented technology,is modeled on the analysis of pipeline networks. The framework is a good basic structure for the rapid reconstruction of legacy GIS for water distribution network.By configuring the system environment, reconstructing the data structure and the system function,a new system with complete structure and function can be rapidly created, enabling sharing and interoperability of data and functionality to some extent. The findings will play an active role in constructing a more digital city.
