High dynamic range(HDR) image is a kind of image type which expresses more brightness range in the real scene than the general brightness of the display can be represented,it can well distinguish light and dark areas of the scene, showing more details. To be displayed on a low dynamic range of the display, the dynamic range compression is required. This paper introduces the HDR dynamic range compression algorithm based on bilateral filtering. The algorithm at first calculates the luminance value of each pixel, then subjects it to bilateral filtering process, finally compresses the contrast of the image to generate HDR image. Experimental results show that HDR imageuhiuhis(generated by this algorithm),achieves a better result in overall brightness, containing richer details.
