A New Distributed Interference Avoidance Algorithm for WLAN

Xia Mao-su · Communications technology · 2009

In this paper,a new method is proposed for effective interference avoidance in a WLAN via distributed, dynamic frequency selection. Each AP evaluates the wireless channel conditions independently and switches channel by using a distributed coordination process among neighboring APs. Such coordination could avoid the channel flapping problem and stabilizes the distributed channel selection. This proposed method is completely distributed and without any centralized control. Intensive experiment results have proved the effectiveness of the proposed method.
