Study on Arcing Resistance Performance of Glass Insulator at Lightning and Power Frequency Flashover

kTest results show that glass insulator on 220kV lines subjected to lightning flashover still have electro-mechanical performance conforming standard requirement. Insulators on 330kV and 500kV lines shows the same superior lightning resistance,hPower frequency arcing tests performed both in China and abroad for years also show superior arcing resistance performance of glass insulators for which the arcing device is not necessary. It is pointed out that amourphous material, toughening process and severe arcing test procedure is the guarantee for the superior and severe arcing resistance performance of glass insulator.
