Research on the premature phenomena of genetic algorithms

Ping Wei · Journal of Hefei University of Technology · 2001

There exist three premature phenomena in the procedure of convergence—too early convergence, slow convergence and no convergence, though genetic algorithms are successfully applied in many fields.Through analyzing the mechanism of genetic algorithms, it is found that premature phenomena are caused by the lack of patterns. A compensative operator is given to solve the prematurity. The presented method is rational in theory and very simple in computing, and a satisfying result can be obtained by the method.
