Precision Bandgap Voltage Reference with High-Order Curvature-Compensation

Chen Sheng · Chinese Journal of Liquid Crystals and Displays · 2008

A novel exponential curvature-compensated BiCMOS bandgap voltage reference with low tempe-rature coefficient was proposed,in which the sensitive temperature characteristics of transistor inverse saturation current was utilized. The lower temperature drift was obtained by introducing a high-order curvature-compensated circuit consisted of a transistor and several resistors. The Hspice simulation results using 0.8 μm BiCMOS process show that the temperature coefficient is only 5 ppm/℃ from-20℃ to +120℃ under 5 V power supply voltage.Compared with the first-order compensation circuit, the temperature coefficient with exponential curvature-compensation is decreased by 90%.The structure of the circuit is very simple, and the power consumption is low.
