Novel Method of Using UML’s Extension Mechanism to Specify Software Non-functional Requirements

This paper points out the deficiency of the existing methods for specifying non-functional requirements(NFR), and proposes a novelmethod, NFR profile, to represent NFR by using UML’s extension mechanism, which makes NFR specification more intuitive and accurate.Meanwhile, NFR profile extends the UML from functional modeling to non-functional modeling, enriches the application of UML and makes itpossible to unify functional and non-functional modeling in the same kind of language and tool.
