Comments on methods for ranking interval numbers

From viewpoint of certainty and viewpoint of degree,respectively,representative ranking methods of interval numbers are reviewed.All possible position relations of any two interval numbers in real axis are illustrated.The applicability and hierarchy relations of certainty ranking methods are investigated,and a scheme for selection among certainty ranking methods is proposed.The characteristics and problems of ranking methods based on degree also are analyzed.A new possibility degree formula for ranking interval numbers,which exhibits both the statistical character of expectation and dispersity,is presented formally.The necessity of ranking interval numbers based on a complete partition of comparison relations between them is discussed.
