The Regress from Computer Practice to Theory

Software engineering studies the models,method and tools in the software development process.UML is an important tool which can specify,visualize,construct and document the artifacts of a software system in software engineering.This paper discusses the application of UML in crossroad signal lamp controlling,points out its role of modeling in software requirement analysis,and reveals the relations between software engineering and computer science.Finally we show that the current development and practice of software engineering is the regress from practice to science,so the role of discrete mathematics in software engineering and computer science theory is obvious.
