RESEARCH ON MOTION ESTIMATION ALGORITHM WITH RANDOM TEMPLATE

Motion estimation is an important component of video compression,performance of motion estimation algorithm has great effect on video encoding. By inspecting some mainstream block- matching motion estimation algorithm,improvement was conducted to the procedure of inter- block matching and the choose of template. During the inter- block matching,typical nodes were selected to instead all the nodes. Random element was introduced into existing algorithm when choose template. Experimental results showed that the reduction of nodes of inter- block matching can reduce the amount of calculation effectively. The introduction of random template increased the adaptability of the algorithm.
