TCP Fairness over Multihop Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

Hai Jin · Computer Engineering and Science · 2007

An analysis of the reason of TCP unfairness and the classification of scenarios are given. The extensive NS2 simulation and analysis show that TCP fairness includes instant fairness and cumulative fairness. If the sending node of one TCP flow is the hidden terminal of other TCP flows, the unfairness will be the highest. It can maintain TCP fairness only when all the nodes in TCP flows are in the sensing or interference range. Using 802.11e EDCF can improve the TCP fairness if the priorities of TCP flows are set.
