Joint Channel Estimation and Detection under MIMO System

This paper presents a method for joint channel estimation and symbol detection by using EM(Expectation-Maximization)-SD(Sphere Decoding) joint algorithm under MIMO system.EM-SD method can work iteratively by two steps: the first step,EM uses the previous estimate of the data symbols and the new observations to update the channel information;the second step,the renewed channel estimation uses the improved sphere decoding algorithm to recover the transmitted symbols.Simulations show that EM-SD method is a kind of sub-optimum algorithm compared to ML,however,its computational complexity is lower than that of optimal algorithm.In addition,EM-SD can obtain ideal channel information and detection result with less iterative number.
