Application of digital image processing in vectorization of petroleum log curves

An improved method is proposed to vectorize of petroleum log curves. On the basis of the advantage/disadvantage analysis of the image preprocessing in frequency domain and in spatial domain, a method of vector tracing is developed for the processing of petroleum log curves. Experiments have been done on more than 20 sheets of petroleum log blueprints from different oil companies. The results show that the accuracy of vectorization can reach 98%.
