A Simplified Algorithm of Data Compression for Wireless Sensor Network Node

For wireless sensor network (WSN) node with resource-constrained,compressing data could reduce energy dissipation of both data transmission and storing data in external memory.This paper analyzes the characteristics of data compression and its significance in WSN.In order to satisfy the compression performance such as compression ratio,accuracy and energy dissipation in the data storage and transmission of the resource-constrained node,a new data compression algorithm based on Fourier series is presented by using a simplified base frequency measurement and adjusting on-line the highest degree of series,which is adaptive to the ultra-low power processor of typical WSN node.Experiments show that the simplified data compression algorithm is valid.
