A New Method for Weighted Co-word Analysis Based on Keywords

Co-word cluster analysis based on keywords is a common method usually used in bibliometrics studies.The method is to calculate the similarity relationship among the keywords in database based on statistical characters of the co-occurrence of them,and thus to reveal the contacts among the themes represented by the keywords.This paper analyzed the hidden problem of traditional way of co-word analysis based on keywords,which is that it ignored the difference of importance of keywords,and demonstrated the rationality and necessity of weighted co-word cluster analysis based on keywords.A new method is then proposed,which included weighted algorithms for calculating the frequencies of keywords and the similarities among them.
