Survey on Linker Layer Key Technologies in Cognitive Radio Networks

Guo Yun-wei · Telecommunication Engineering · 2010

Cognitive Radio Network (CRN) has emerged as a promising paradigm to solve the increasingly serious spectrum scarcity problem. To share the existing licensed spectrum opportunistically without interference, the linker layer of CRN,besides providing the traditional services for data transmission,is required to support an entirely new set of functionalities. A survey on the key technologies required by these functionalities is given in this paper, with focus on six aspects in particular, including cooperative sensing, sensing mechanism optimization, dynamic spectrum access, dynamic spectrum allocation,cross-layer design, security design. Based on the summaries and analysis of the latest development, directions of the future work are investigated.
