A Novel ESPRIT Method for Estimating Non-Coherent and Coherent Source

In present array signals estimation,ESPRIT algorithm is a common algorithm of high speed and precision, but it could hardly estimate DOA of the mixed signal(including both the coherent and non-coherent) in low SNR. A novel improved ESPRIT method is proposed for DOA estimation of both the coherent and non-coherent sources. The method makes suffi cient use of self-correlation and cross-correlation information of covariance matrix and reconstructs the matrix with signal direction, and thus the DOA is acquired from decomposition of the above matrix. It solves the problem that ESPRIT algorithm could not estimate mixed signal and demands a high SNR. As compared with other algorithms, the proposed algorithm is of higher resolution and precision. Simulation experiment indicates that this algorithm is advantageous and reliable in the estimation of mixed signal.
