(Abstract)In order to reduce the energy consumption of stations and extend the operating time in wireless networks, this paper proposes a new scheme to reduce the energy consumption of station based on the IEEE802.11 protocol. By using ACK information specified in IEEE802.11 protocol, efficiency factor and weighting factor are defined. The mobile termination can control adaptively the transmitting power according to the channel environment, and the energy consumption can be reduced efficiently in this way.
