Ontology design for meteorological services analysis
Jing Xu · Journal of Computer Applications · 2012
An ontology representation for level of meteorological services based on the W3C OWL 2 standard was proposed. With understanding of the concepts and levels, the concepts of meteorological services were represented logically with color scalars,first-order logic, compound propositional logic and Description Logic(DL).The logical representation was applied in the ontology design,in which the class-tree was built up,as well as the ontology library.By intelligent Agents, surface observation of the weather data was transformed into knowledge of meteorological services. The ontology library of the meteorological services was built with the proposed representation in the soft real-time map analysis and Web posting system. The positive performance of the automatic analysis of severe weathers, tourist self reliance for weather service,Short Messaging System(SMS) and so on proves the efficiency of the ontology representation.
