Color Effect on Semantic Understanding Based on Spreading Activation Models

Jingjing Peng · Journal of Changzhou Vocational College of Information Technology · 2012

The Stroop Effect refers to the experiment of the interference of reaction time in psychology. On the basis of Stroop Effect,by adopting DMDX software design psycholinguistic tests, the paper sets up three different sets of experimental dada based on the theory of spreading activation model to test the when there is a conflict between the printing color of a word and the meaning of the word to select the semantic in color instead of the printing color.Analyzed by SPSS software, the test proposes there are three assumptions: color effect can influence the semantic understanding obviously and the greater the semantics within the meaning of the color, the longer reaction time.
