PARTIAL CACHE LOCALITY: A NEW APPROACH TO CACHE OPTIMIZATION

Min Li · Chinese Journal of Computers · 1997

The optimization of cache performance is very important in high-performance computing. There are some drawbacks in previous optimization methods, such as blocking algorithms. The development of RISC and superscalar techniques offers a new way to cache optimization. This paper presents the partial cache locality technique, a new cache optimization method, based on analysis of characteristicsof RISC processors. Our experiments show that this method can yield good results, and is easy to implement.
