The system of translating Ada 83 to Ada 95

For the maintenance and upgrade of the Ada 83 legacy system, it is important to translate Ada 83 source to compatible Ada 95 source. In this paper, the design and implementation of a translation system of Ada 83 to Ada 95 is introduced. First the architecture of the system is given. Then the important data structures information, template and rule dictionaries are described, and the flow chart of the system, including pre processing, post processing, front end checking, middle expression and back end translation, is explained. Finally, the performance analysis of the system and the results of test are presented.
