Application of Bow-tie Technology in the Risk Management of Urban Gas Pipeline

In order to improve the safety assessment system, the Bow-tie technology is firstly applied to the risk management of urban gas pipeline. The Bow-tie graph is depicted to combine the fault tree with the event tree. The causes and consequences of gas pipeline leak are qualitatively analyzed and some corresponding accident prevention and mitigationmeasures are proposed.The risk identification, risk analysis, risk assessment, risk control and riskmanagement are shown completely in the Bow-tie graph and it can be applied extensively, notonly in prevention,but also in guiding afterwards, stopping the accidents in the maximal degree and providing practical technical support for the integrity management of urban gas pipeline.
