Application of Microwave Technology on Wood Processing and Product Testing in China

This paper summarized the achievements and application of microwave technology in wood industry,like wood drying,modification,and synthesis of adhesives,defect detection of wood,moisture content in wood and bamboo,formaldehyde emission content in artificial board.Microwave technology had advantages of shorter time for heating,better quality for drying and more volume recovery during wood drying.It could modify some properties of wood and bamboo for their better use.During synthesis of adhesives,the reaction time was extremely faster than traditional methods.Further development and prospect of microwave technology in wood industry are put forwarded.
