Wavelet transform, depending upon the property of time frequency localization, has already been an important tool in seismic data processing. The authors explain the basic theory and discuss the selection of wavelet basis(function), Then we make use of the MATLAB language and its wavelet toolbox to implement wavelet analysis of seismic data file with SEG Y format and the results show the efficiency of the method.
