Online selection approach for service composition in enterprises coordination

Yushun Fan · Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems · 2008

An iterative online methodology of service selection was proposed to solve the problem of selecting appropriate service providers so as to realize the Quality of Service(QoS) optimization. With this approach, the service requester renewed the chosen services during the arriving process of providers to obtain better QoS gradually, instead of waiting until all the candidates responded to the request.Based on transforming composed service to hierarchical structure, four basic QoS operators and their partial differentials were put forward to reduce the computation complexity of determining on-line optimal solution. For non-linear QoS environment,Non-linear Increment Algorithm(NIA) with increment-confirmation and task-ergodic techniques was applied to improve computation efficiency. The actual time consumed by this approach was near zero because the online algorithm didn't occupy the user's effective time. The achieved solution could also be applied to improve the performance of the traditional offline algorithms.
