Image Enhancement Method for Films of Pneumoconiosis Based on Weighted Local Area Histogram Equalization

To make the identification of the pneumoconiosis' X-ray films easier,this paper proposes an image enhancement method for films of pneumoconiosis based on Weighted Local Area Histogram Equalization(WLAHE).It uses WLAHE,Local Area Histogram Equalization(LAHE) and Histogram Equalization(HE) to enhance the contrast of the pneumoconiosis' X-ray film of stage 0+.The enhancement effect of them with different parameters is compared with each other.Results show that WLAHE can make the small pathological changes opacities in the pneumoconiosis' X-ray film of stage 0+ more prominent with smaller windows and results in less noise and distortion of details.
