Dong Xiu-yin · Journal of Nanchang University · 2014

The unmarked counterfactual hypothetical sentence of Chinese can be divided into two types, main clause and subordinate clause, which reflects the speaker's subjective attitude or desire, and can express various discourse functions. Some discourse functions are to refute or refuse which is deduced by logical knowledge and discourse implicature, and so this kind of sentence can be called logical derivation. Others are suggestion, identification and so on,which is dirently or indirectly expressed by main clause, and so this kind of sentence can be called non- logical derivation. Compared with other sentences,it can express the same discource function. The unmarked counterfactual hypothetical sentence of Chinese has its unique expression.
