Undo Method Based on Operation-increment for Distributed Systems

Junyu Lin · Journal of Chinese Computer Systems · 2011

Undo technology is a kind of method to deal with system failure, and is an effective way to ensure the security of systems and data.Accounting for the fact that operational error is becoming a larger ratio in inducements of system failure,a hierarchical undo method based on operation-increment was proposed and realized in this paper. At first, the related concepts of operation-increment were defined with formal description languages. On this basis,a hierarchical undo model for distributed systems was built, and a construction method of operation-increment was given,as well as a repairing method of misoperation. After that,a classification compensation strategy was used to solve the inconsistency problem that may exist during an undo recovery process. The results show that the method proposed decreases recovery granularity and cost, increases recovery speed, and has a higher recovery efficiency comparing with the traditional rollback recovery methods.
