Design of software system in Layer3 switch

With the developmentof network technology, layer3 switches have taken the place of routers in intranet as devices performinglayer3 forwarding. The software system of SW1200, a gigabit layer3 switch is introduced. At first hardware structure and softwareplatform of SW1200 are presented. After analyzing the relationship between hardware and software using network layering model, thearchitect of software system was given. Finally, all the software components were discussed and the emphasis was focused on the coredriver and layer3 tasks which realized layer3 switching.
