New Fast Intra Prediction Mode Decision Algorithm in H.264/AVC

The improved fuzzy integral metric is used to estimate the type of macroblock and select the best mode from Intra_4×4 and Intra_16×16.For the Intra_4×4,gradient squared method is adopted to estimate the texture direction and avoid the impossible mode,the speed of intra prediction is increased.Experimental results show that the proposed fast algorithm can achieve remarkable computational reduction while maintaining similar PSNR and bit rate performance.
