This paper presents a preliminary design of the architecture of a CODASYL basedDBMS developed under the UNIX operating system.From the viewpoint of interfacingthe DBMS with the OS,design issues such as the calling structures of DBCS,theprocesses communication,the handling of shared data,and the access control ofdatabases,are discussed.The skeleton of the system's architecture is also given.
