Research and Implementation of System Verification Based on SystemC

Dan Wang · Microcomputer Information · 2008

Motion Estimate and Compensation Unit (MECU) is a key module in video codec chips, and its algorithm is very complex in computation. Modeling and verifying MECU with traditional HDL (hardware design language) costs much time. To reduce the time of verification, this paper proposed a system-level-verification procedure of MECU based on SystemC. As SystemC can specify the design at various levels of abstraction, to co-verify MECU and other modules with low abstract level, the proposed procedure emphasized the refinement of MECU interfaces. The simulation results demonstrate the validity of new verification procedure. Compared with traditional HDL, the modeling and verifying time is decreased to a great extent.
