A Discussion about Possible Optimization Methods in Grid Networking Performance
Zheng Zhao · Microprocessors · 2007
TCP is widely used for reliable end-to-end congestion-controlled network communication, and also used for almost all distributed computing. With the advent of computational Grids, networking performance over the wide area network has become a critical component in the Grid infrastructure.Unfortunately, many high-performance Grid applications only use a small fraction of their available bandwidth because operating systems and their associated protocol stacks are still tuned for yesterday's WAN speeds. This paper introduces some buffer tuning methods to optimize the network performance, followed by an in-depth discussion of their features;proposing a reasonable and practical solution to this grid problem.
