Power Quality Transient Disturbance Compression Based on Optimum Wavelet Packet

According to characteristic of the transient disturbance data of power quality whose frequency is very high, this paper put forward a method based on optimum wavelet packet for the compression of transient disturbance data of power quality. Then the fast search algorithm of optimum wavelet packet is used to decompose the parts of high frequency and the parts of low frequency at the same time, and subsequently the signal is compressed and reconstructed. Finally, by comparing with the method based on the wavelet,the conclusion can be drawn that the distortion rate of the former is lower when the compression rates of the both methods are approximately same.
