Bai Wen-xiu · Jilin Normal University Journal · 2005

The solution of MPLS-based VPN via BGP is one of the latest methods to build VPN. This approach allows providers to use a service provider backbone network to provide VPN services to their customers. Based on the description that how BGP is used to exchange VPN routing information and how MPLS is used to forward VPN data traffic in the MPLS-based VPN via BGP, and on the compare with other solutions of VPNs, we analyze the benefits of this solution, and conclude that this solution is a better solution for both customers and providers due to its scalability, flexibility, availability, cost and privacy.
