Aiming at discreteness and incorrectness in measurement of earth resistance that influence lightning protection level and lightning tripping rate,the paper studies on measurement technique of earth resistance in respects of components of earth devices,measurement principle of earth resistance,measurement and calculation approach of earth resistance of overhead transmission lines,source of errors in measurement of earth resistance and improvement.It also proposes to adopt intelliGMS to improve measurement of earth resistance.Therefore,the paper introduces technique and the implementation of the new approach.In the end,it expounds attentions in normal measurement and smart measurement of earth resistance.
