The uncertainties in seismic attribute application

The seismic attributes have been bringing into play more and more in petroleum exploration and development. The methods are uncertain when the data is limited and has errors because of its application is restricted to find the geophysical reverse solution. The impact from geology, observations, prediction methods and subjective knowledge on seismic attributes application are analyzed based on geophysical inversion theory.The fundamental causes which result in the uncertainties are pointed out. The application prerequisite and range of the seismic attribute are further defined.
