A two-stage codebook search method of EVRC speech codec

In this paper, a two-stage codebook search method of EVRC speech codec is proposed.At the first stage, a coarse codevector is selected by a sequential search, and at the second stage, the exhaustive pulse replacement procedure is run to enhance the performance of codevector.Simulation with speech data show that the new method yields voice quality equivalent with only 21.5% codebook search load.
