On the Backward Orientation of Attributive Adjectives

The paper makes an investigation of several types of backward orientation of attributive adjectives,and proposes the syllabic,semantic and syntactic constraints for the backward orientation of attributive adjectives.Some rules are provided for determining the target of back-oriented attributive adjectives.Finally we analyze the cognitive motivation and the grammaticalization of the backward orientation of attributive adjectives.
