VLAN is introduced from traditional concept of LAN, and it is the natural expansion of LAN; it is similar to LAN in basic function, and divides one LAN into several logic net segments. Comparing with LAN technology, VLAN technology can control broadcast and collide in network, improve the integrated security of network, control accessing right of users and range of logic net segments, manage networks simply and intuitively, configure and expand network conveniently. Because of the development of network technology and support of Mutil-VLAN, L2 and L3 VLAN have got widely application in the construction of broadband IP network.
